Alliance Credit Counseling has been providing help, hope and empowerment to the public since 2000. They have been a Better Business Bureau accredited site since 2005 but currently (as of this writing) do not have a BBB rating. The company is ISO:9001 accredited and affiliated with AADMO, AFCPE and AICCCA. Alliance Credit Counseling offers a range of services including personal credit counseling, debt management, housing and bankruptcy counseling and education.
The site’s limited educational offerings consist of some informational links, a few articles and the FDIC’s Money Smart training program that is geared to adults. They also provide several PDF documents in newsletter format on various financial topics. The only tools the site features are a budget calculator and worksheets. In these important areas of financial education and tools, Alliance Credit Counseling falls drastically short in comparison to the other sites we reviewed.
The site is somewhat difficult to use. The home page of the site feels cluttered and the navigation is placed in an awkward place on the right side of the page. The site only supports English and since their target audience reads from left to right, having the various sections running down the right side of the page means most visitors to the site will miss them entirely. Contacting Alliance Credit Counseling is managed by an online form, email, mailing address and via the toll free phone number. Their hours of availability are:
Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.–10 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
As financial counseling sites go, Alliance Credit Counseling is not the strongest service provider. They offer very little in the way of education or financial tools. The web site seems to be more for marketing purposes than providing online help. Read our reviews of top-ranked credit counseling sites AAA Fair Credit Foundations, Springboard and Money Management International for services that will provide you with more help and guidance through extensive educational materials and financial tools.
