ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions is a nationally-recognized service provider in the credit counseling field. This organization has been working with clients longer than any site on our review. The company started in the financial advising business in 1972 and has seen, and weathered, the economic ups and downs of the last 37 years.
ClearPoint has been a Better Business Bureau accredited company since 1995. They currently (as of this writing) do not have a BBB rating. The company is COA accredited and affiliated with the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).
The company provides far fewer educational options on their site than most other sites we reviewed. ClearPoint’s financial library consists of some articles and tips, quizzes and an online “Ask an Expert” form for question and answers. The site also offers a standard list of financial calculators and worksheets including debt-to-income, budget, auto, mortgage and net worth.
ClearPoint provides a respectable range of services including credit counseling, housing, credit report and bankruptcy counseling.
The site is organized and supplies a search function to help the user find the information they are looking for quickly and easily. It also supports both English and Spanish languages and features a FAQs page. Contact with ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions is accomplished through a local phone number and an online form.
Overall ClearPoint is one service provider among many credit counseling options. Other than their respectable length of time in the industry, there is very little to set them apart from the crowd. They don’t offer a great deal of user-directed education on their site instead preferring to handle the education of their clients over the phone. A credit counseling service that has been around as long they have really ought to have more learning opportunities than they offer.
